Jan Arentsz van Straten, living in Rotterdam, admits to be in debt to Wouter Arentsz Vosmaer for 205 guilders for lodging and for borrowed money. He promises to pay back this amount within 1 year aafter 10 June 1662 at an interest reate of 4 percent. If he wants to extend the duration of this loan, this is up to the creditor to decide. He guarantees this by putting as collateral any claims he may have on the inheritance left behind by his father, the late Arent Jansz van Straten. In case of legal issues, he authorises Abraham van Hoogbrugge, Jacob Mierbvoom and Adriaen van Sterrevelt, all general attorneys (procureurs) with the Hof van Holland, to act on his behalf. At the end it is mentioned that this deed has been passed in Rotterdam at the specific request of Jan Arentsz van Straten, in the presence of witnesses Leendert vander Leth and Charle Maillau (the latter signing his name as C: Maillardt). Leendert vander Leth is only mentioned here without any further info.
