"The Island at the Center of the World"
Just a fun quote to share from the book "The Island at the Center of the World" by Russell Shorto - a book I am reading...
"What Charles Gehring received into his care in 1974 was twelve thousand sheets of rag paper covered with the crabbed, loopy script of seventeenth century Dutch, which to the untrained eye looks something like a cross between our Roman letters and Arabic or Thai - writing largely indecipherable today even to modern Dutch speakers." (pages 4 and 5)
Truely something special and impactful to the world is being done here on this forum and much thanks goes to all who endeavor to bring the fruits of these old texts to modern readers!
