Erscheenen Adam Vellen, kranck te
bedde liggendoe, dan nog met goeden
verstande, die ten overstaen van sijn
soon Jan Vellen verclaerde sijn uyterste
wille end[e] meyninge te zijn, dat sijn
soon Garrit Vellen en desselfs huisvrou
Aeltjen Meerkes end[e] haeren erven ten
oorsaecke van die goede voorsorge end[e]
v[er]pleging soo sij aen comp[a]r[an]t in sijn
hoogen ouderdom en op sijn kranck-
bedde bewesen hebben eeuwig en
erffelijck sullen hebben end[e] behouden sijns
comp[a]r[an]t[e]n hoflant aen de Maersenstege
en wat hij wijders van lantgrondt
in desen schependom gelegen heeft,
voorts sijn alengs gerede linnen en
wullen, 't welck hij comp[a]r[an]t mits de-
sen aen sijn voorn[oemde] soon en schoon-
dochter en hunner erven metter daet
overgeeft, niets uytgesondert; wil-
lende alsoo dat dese sijner uyterste
wille bester gestalt rechtens als een
testament, codicil, ofte gifte van
doots wegen effect moge sorteren,
sonder arg ofte list.

In the year 1697 on the 31st of May
before Kerckhof and Schaler
aldermen
has appeared Adam Vellen, lying sick
in bed, however sound of
mind, who declared in the presence of his
son Jan Vellen it to be his last
will and intention, that his
son Garrit Vellen and his wife
Aeltjen Meerkes as well as their heirs, because
of the good care and
nursing they provided to the person appearing in
his high age and on his sick-
bed, to have and hold forever
and inheritably his homestead
situated at the Maersenstege
and any land he furthermore may have
within the juridiction of these aldermen,
furthermore his already processed linen and woll
cloths, which he effectively hands over
to his aforementioned son and daughter in law
through this deed, nothiong excepted; desiring thus
this last will of his to be put in effect
in the best judicial form as if it were
a will, codicil, or donation by death,
without any tricks or deception.
