If we check calendar; 15-may-1740 was indeed Thursday.
The next entry is for baptism on 8-may; infant was born saturday 7-may; but 17-may was saturday!
How is it possible that the priest baptised infant before birth?
He wrote 8-May four times and it never looks like 18-may.

The confusion is caused by an ink spot in the first registration. What at first sight seems to be 15 May, is in fact 5 May; the 1 is in fact an ink spot caused by the first (capital) letter of the second inscription. In that way it all falls into place: 5 May 1740 was (as mentioned) a Thursday, 8 May 1740 a Sunday, and 7 May 1740, the day of birth of the second child mentioned, indeed a Saturday.

Just checked two perpetual calendars, but to me it seems 5 May 1740 was indeed a Thursday. See also for example date of marriage banns of Amsterdam in attachment for Friday 6 May 1740.
