This mutual and reciprocal will is composed at the request of Seigneur (a title often used to address people who have a certain social/financial status) Leonard vander Leth, master potter and his wife Pieternelletje Jans van Dijssel, living at the Koornmarkt in Delft. They mutually appoint each other as the sole heir if one of them would die. The surviving spouse will be held to raise their children until those children will have be come of age, or will marry, or will be deceased. Once the children will have come of age, or will marry, the children still living then will jointly receive a sum of 3000 guilders. If all children would die before the death of the surviving parent, the surviving parent will become the sole heir of the entire inheritance. They also mutually appoint each other as legal guardian of their children in case one of both would die. Furthermore, the couple reserves the right to change (increase or decrease) the amount of the inheritance as they may see fit. The will is drawn up in the presence of witnesses Jan den Appel, clerk of the notary, and Jacob Frans van den Bos, potter.
As always many thanks Rene.
Nothing too surprising here in their will, just interesting it was written a couple of months after Leendert's father died in 1673, and not after they had married in 1662.
very best wishes
