There are even 7 children, listed by gender (sons first, daughters last) and per gender by age (oldest first, youngest last):

Adriaen, aged 24
Dirck, aged 19
Frans, aged 14
Josyna, aged 21
Cecilia, aged 8
Elisabet, aged 5
Maria, aged 2

The legal guardians (as all children were unmarried and under the age of 25) are mentioned in the first lines: Bruyn Harmanssz Schinkel, Salomon Jacobssz van(den) Heul, Vincent Proost, and Adriaen Janssz Orgel. You should however check whether the first two names are not the names of the magistrates of the Orphans' Chamber; you can compare the names with previous or next docs in the same source. Looking at the sentence, I do suspect all four names were legal guardians.

As I mentioned before I think they were a Catholic family so there are no baptism records as far as I can see, so to have the ages given is very valuable.

I'll do as you suggest re the legal guardians. It's always interesting to see who was chosen for this task within or outside the family.

The parents wrote a joint will in 1620. Perhaps this will shed more light on the proposals they planned to make for their 7 children. The will is in a different format to what I've seen before- on one large page. It looks very difficult to read in my opinion but I'll post it later to see what the Forum make of it!

Just had a better look at the document and noticed the names of the magistrates of the Orphans' Chamber were in the closing lines; therefore the 4 names in the first lines will all be legal guardians.

I'm intrigued who those 4 men were-not family members as far as I can tell.
