1599- Tax in Delft

This concerns Jasper Mes and taxes in Delft in 1599.  On the archives link it states 'deceased'.

Is it possible to understand what taxes are due?

Many thanks as always

Anne

It concerns the tax paid for the transfer of real estate

Noch heeft Dirck Willemss cleermaecker vercoft
Neeltgen Ariensdochter weduwe van Jasper Mes
een huys aent Marctvelt om XVIIIc gulden
te betalen Vc gulden gereet ende jaerlijcks IcXX gulden
compt de doytgens - IX gulden IIII stuyvers VIII penningen

Also, tailor Dirck Willemss has sold to
Neeltgen Ariensdochter, widow of Jasper Mes
a house situated at the Marktveld [currently: Markt] for 1800 guilders,
to be paid 500 guilders at once in cash and each year 120 guilders
which brings the tax to an amount of 9 guilders 4 stuivers and 8 penningen

Many thanks Rene. I really appreciate your time helping me.

That's really useful to understand how the archives knew Jasper Mes had passed away by 1599.

As there is a piece of silver/goldware that has Jasper Mes's mark on it dated 1595 I assume Jasper died some time between these dates.

There's also a document from the Orphans chamber concerning Jasper and Neeltgen but that's undated on Delft archives. Although written in pencil at the top I think it says 1593?

I'll post it shortly to see if anyone can decifer the text. It's very small writing on a huge piece of paper. Hopefully it doesn't all relate to Jasper and Neeltgen!

warmest best wishes.

Anne
