This is the will of Neeltgen Huijgensdr.
I'm particularly interested in the family relationship between the heirs - Huijch and Simon Lenertsz.
Were they the sons of Neeltgen Huijgensdr and Cornelis Beaumont?
When Petronella van Dijssel (the focus of my research) was christened in 1643 one of the witnesses was Huijch Lenertsz- possibly her grandfather?
Anyway many thanks for any enlightenment that can be shed on this complex family.
Also I'm not sure where her will starts and ends- but it showed 2 pages on Delft archives so I'm including both.
very best wishes
Anne
Dear Anne,
This deed is not a will, but is a registration of the division of goods (caveling) from the inheritance to two heirs of the late Neeltge Huygendochter,, in her life wife of Cornelis Pieterssz Beaumondt
The items mentioned under A and B are bequeathed for one half to her daughter Margrieta Huygendochter. The other half is bequeathed to several persons together:
- Huych Lenertssz
- Simon Lenertssz
- Cornelis Gerritssz (in his capacity as husband and legal guardian of his wife Machtelt Lenertsdochter)
- Henrick Michielssz Cuyper (in his capacity as husband and legal guardis of Margriete Lenertsdochter)
Huych Lenertssz (by mistake mentioned as Huych Simonssz and Henrick Michielssz are also acting as legual guardians over and on behalf of the orphaned children of Maritgen Lenertsdochter.
Also present is Jan Willemssz, who has married one of those orphaned children.
Margriete Huygendochter is allotted a bond letter concerning an annual payment of 27 guilders, 9 stuivers and 2 penningen, to be paid on the first of May, starting on 1 May 1690. This annual interest is related to a main sum of 439 guilders and 6 stuivers.
Margriete Huygendochter also was allotted 3 different letters that entitled her to receive the rent revenues of several houses:
- the house of Maritgen and Trijntgen Willemsdochter located at the Molslaan in Delft, with an annual rent of 22 stuivers, to be paid each year at All Saints' Day
- the house of Lysbeth Balten located in the Kromstraatsteeg in Delft, with an annual rent of 15 stuivers, to be paid annually on the first of May
- the house of Buys Arentssz and Trijtgen, wife of Claes Pieterssz, located at Delfgaauw, with an aanual rent of 21 stuivers and 4 penningen, also to be paid annually on the first of May
The rights on these rent revenues are based half on the allotment and half on a bond letter she has on the joint debtors Huych Lenerts, his grandmother and his mother-in-law.
These rents are based on a main sum of 23 guilders and 10 stuivers.
She was also entitled to the rent over the period May-August 1689 that Huych Lenertssz was entitled to from his debtor Maritgen van Buyten, adding up to 30 stuivers and also to a sum of 13 stuivers Margriete had left from the division of goods.
The total worth of her portion added up to a total of 464 guilders and 10 stuivers.
Under B, the allotment of Huych Lenerts and his associates is mentioned:
- a bond letter worth 29 guilders 3 stuivers and 12 penningen annually, to be paid on the first of May, for the first time on 1 May 1590. This rent is based on a loan from June 1574 to Frans Adriaenssz living in Maasland, worth in total 307 guilders
- another bond letter, based on a loan to Maritgen van Buyten, worth an annual payment of 6 guilders, to be paid each year on the first of August, the first time being 1 August 1590, based on a main sum of 96 guilders; he is also entitled to the rent on this sum over the period May-August 1589.
- the annual mortgage payment on the house of Claes Coertssz on the Gasthuislaan of 1 Bavarian guilders, as well as the annual rent of 22 stuivers, to be paid each year on the first of May, starting on 1 May 1590; these amounts are based on a main sum of 17 guilders and 12 stuivers.
- the annual rent to be paid by the city of Delft regarding a scorched piece of land outside the Waterslootse Poort (a town gate), the annual rent of 22 stuivers to be paid each year on the first of May, based on a main sum of 18 guilders.

Dear Rene and Geert
Many thanks as always for your hard work transcribing and translating this document.
This is a new deed for me, which I haven't heard of before. I did wonder why there were no signatures at the end of the 'will'. This explains it.
It's still a difficult family to 'untangle' and as I said before it's Huijch Leneerdsz who I'm most interested in as I think he could possibly be the father of Claesgen Huijgensdr (which would explain her name) and also why he was at Petronella's baptism in 1643.
What I don't understand is if Neeltgen Huijgens was married to Cornelis Peters Beaumont why her daughter has the name Margarita Huijgens, not Margarita Cornelisdr if he was her father? Of course Cornelis might have been Neeltgen's 2nd husband?
I might just have to admit in my research write up that I'm not sure about Claesgen's family line!
warmest best wishes
Anne
