Pieter van Marksveld-1793- debt surety

Pieter van Marksveld- I think is referred to as a 'master potterybaker'? His wife Petronella van der Laan has a word inserted before her name. Can anyone read what it says? Is she also a master potter?

It's through the antique vase I was given last year, made by Pieter van Marksveld which lead me to all my research into the pottery industry in Delft, including the role women played in the factories.

best wishes

Anne

Pieter van Marksveld is a 'meester-plateelbakker', so indeed a master potter baker.

The word superposed before the name of his wife Petronella is Mejuffw., short for Mejuffrouw [= 'Miss']. In more current-da Dutch, mejuffrouw as 'title' for an unmarried woman, in sources like these it was not uncommon to also refer to married women with this title.
