This document concerns Barbara Rotteveel, who was described as 'estate keeper'.
I think it appears to be the sale of several properties following the death of her husband Sijmon Mesch earlier in the year of 1654. He had bought at least 10 properties in Delft before he died.
Is it possible to tell where these properties were in Delft (if there are several) and how much they sold for? This will give me an idea of how much money she had to survive on as a widow with 3 very young children.
Many thanks as always.
Anne
Dear Anne,
It seemed familiar to me: is this the same document as in the posts on https://watstaatdaer.nl/forum/sale-property-1654-delft?
If so, are there additional issues you would like to know?
Oh dear Rene- so sorry. Thank goodness you spotted it and didn't waste time retranslating it.
Somehow I failed to file the reply of 3 December in my 'master copy' of all the replies I receive from 'Wat Staat Daer' so I can trace them later :-(
It was an important discussion that followed from the original posting, about women's rights to own property in Holland in the 17th century for which I was thankful for your contribution.
I'll make sure to add the replies to my list so that I can use them fully when I come to write up my story about women being pottery owners in Delft.
Thanks as always
Anne
